Pictures published in this edition reflect the first period that was experienced during the years between 1922 and 1955, and they have to be viewed as witnesses to the efforts of urbanisation through this time. The publication of these images in the form of an album should be reviewed as part of a concern with the maintenance of at least the memory of the urbanisation and reconstruction adventure of Izmir's recent history.
