An earlier version of this work was originally publislıed as an article in the Polish journal Koczııik Orieıitalistvc,.ny in 1990. After the submission of my article to the journal, Poland went through those well-known political and social changes at the end of the 1980's which slowed down the communications with that country. As a r-,ult of those developments 1 did not see the final proof of my article, and it was published with considerable mistakes, especially in the transcription of the text. For some time 1 have considered to expand the work with a alossary and republish it. Some of my Turkish colleagues have also encouraged me to edit this valuable MamlukKipehak archery treatise in Turkish. Finally 1 decided to prepare a bilingual edition of the work which would include a facsirnile copy of the manuscript. The book in your hand is a result of this endeavor.
