Andrew Graham-Yooll joined The Buenos Aires Herald when he was 22. Ten years later, in 1976, during a military dictatorship, he was forced to leave Argentina with his family to seek refuge in London. In England he worked on the Daily Telegraph and Ibe Guardian, and edited South Magazine and the journal Index on Censorsbip. In 1994 he returned to Argentina as Editor-in-Chief of The Buenos Aires Herald.

He could never, in those three decades, feel detached from the events and people he had to write about. His memoirs show how there can be no such thing as an independent journalist - the struggle for objectivity is a constant battle.
